My name is Leigh Matthews (1977), I am a registered
Psychologist with almost 10 years experience as a Psychologist and Supervisor of
psychologists-in-training.
I provide adult,
English speaking individuals with a range of strategies that aim to reduce
distress and to enhance and promote emotional wellbeing. I use a short term,
practical and collaborative approach. I combine brief, solution-focused,
cognitive-behavioural and mindfulness approaches. I specialize in:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Stress Management
- Relationship and Communication Issues
- Adjustment to major life changes including
unemployment, parenting, retirement, diagnosis with chronic or terminal
illness and grief and loss and offer counselling and support for family
members who have been affected.
I hold a first class honours in Psychology from
the University of Sydney School of Psychology in Australia, a Postgraduate
Certificate in Psychological Practice from the Australian College of Applied
Psychology (ACAP), full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner
Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and full membership with the Australian Psychological
Society.
I am a Psychologist but am taking the title of Psychotherapist in Barcelona
until I complete the long process of recognition of my Australian Psychology
qualifications in Spain.
