People seek therapy for all
kinds of reasons, and my aim is
to help clients make sense of
feelings they do not understand.
Gaining an understanding of how
you feel, or how you behave or
respond towards other people
means that you will have a
choice about how you want to
live your life. Whereas not
being conscious of why you act
or respond in a certain way
means you will continue to act
in the same (unhelpful) way, and
very likely will continue to
feel unhappy and unfulfilled.
Recognising that there is a
problem which is affecting your
life in a negative way is the
first step to doing something
about it. Then finding the right
professional to help you achieve
what you want is crucially
important.
I qualified initially as a
counsellor and subsequently as a
psychoanalytic psychotherapist,
and underwent a lengthy analysis
myself during the process. I
have many years of experience
working as a therapist in
private practice, and previously
in an agency setting and within
the NHS. I also work as a
supervisor in private practice.
